Founded in 1991, Vacuum Energy has focused on advanced technology gettering materials for the most demanding applications.
Gettering technologists have traditionally focused on metals and their alloys. Metal getters are a century old technology dating back to Edison’s light bulb. Metal getters, while well understood, have performance limitations precluding their use in many applications important to todays world. In order to meet these needs Vacuum Energy teamed with Sandia National Laboratories to develop new types of advanced getter technologies.
Together Sandia and Vacuum Energy create new types of getters for demanding client applications, applications not amenable to the use of traditional getter materials. The resulting products are easy to use, don’t need thermal activation in most instances, and are resistant to atmospheric gases, water, volatile organics and oil mists.
Development work continues to this day. Vacuum Energy’s products are used worldwide in millions of items every year. Items as simple as a child’s bath tub toy or as complex as the most advanced aerospace systems.
